BARBOURVILLE, KY (Tue 23 Feb 2016) - A six-run fifth inning provided a lead and solid relief work preserved Lindsey Wilson baseball's 7-6 win over host Union (KY) today at Jerry Carey Stadium.

Edgar Lebron blasted a two-run homer in the inning while the remainder of the runs came from a single, a hit by the pitch and two walks - all with bases loaded. Lebron ended the day 1-for-3 with three RBIs, including his first homer of the season.

Lindsey Wilson reliever James Doubet recorded the final five outs - four of which came with runners in scoring position - to secure the 7-6 win.

Austin Atwell gave the Blue Raiders (8-4) a 1-0 lead in the first inning with sacrifice fly to deep left-center field scoring Brandon Munoz -- who singled earlier in the inning.

Lindsey Wilson held the one-run advantage for just one inning as the Bulldogs (3-6) scored four times in the bottom of the second inning. Union plated two runs in the inning thanks to pair of Lindsey Wilson miscues -- a wild pitch and an error. A sacrifice fly and a Michael Castillo single provided the remaining runs to give Union a 4-1 lead.

After three straight scoreless innings, the Blue Raiders erupted for six runs to take a 7-4 lead through five innings.

Union trimmed the Lindsey Wilson lead to 7-6 with a two-run inning in the home half of the sixth. Again, the Bulldogs took advantage of Lindsey Wilson miscues.

After a one-out single from Austin Boggs and a Castillo walk, the pair scored thanks to two wild pitches and a Lindsey Wilson error.

Union looked as if it was poised for an even bigger inning, but Doubet dashed the Bulldogs' hopes.

Doubet entered the game with runners at first and third and one out. On his first pitch to Bruce Valentin, Lindsey Wilson catcher Dustin Woody threw down to second base during Zach Gross' steal attempt. LWC second baseman Jan Carlos Ortiz cut off the throw and returned it back to Woody, who tagged out Ryan Ziels after a rundown for the second out.

Doubet closed out the inning by striking out Valentin to preserve the 7-6 lead.

Doubet picked up his second save of the season with a scoreless seventh inning to secure the Lindsey Wilson win. He did not allow a hit in his 1-2/3 inning. Daniel Ferrell earned the win in relief allowing a pair of unearned runs on one hit over 1-1/3 innings.

Union's Brady Smiley suffered the loss allowing four runs - one earned - on one hit without recording an out.

Miguel Reyes finished with two of the Blue Raider's six hits in the game. He also drove in a run and scored once.

The game - originally scheduled for nine innings - was halted after the seventh due to darkness and deteriorating weather conditions. The writer, Chris Wells, is Sports Information Director at Lindsey Wilson College
