By Charles Balcom

COLUMBIA, KY (Mon 22 Feb 2016) – Alonso Tellez is the Mid-South Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.

The freshman from Madrid, Spain, won two of Lindsey Wilson's four points in a 5-4 loss to No. 11 Keiser (FL) in the Blue Raiders lone match last week.

Tellez started the day by pairing with Ignacio Huertas to win at the third-seeded doubles flight 8-4. He then posted a straight-sets win, 6-2, 7-5, at the No. 5 singles position.

Tellez improves to 2-1 this season in doubles and 1-2 in singles with last week's wins.

The weekly honor is Tellez's first of his career. Charles Balcom is Assistant Sports Information Director, Lindsey Wilson College
