Sad word of passing of Rev. Joseph Payne Funeral arrangements and a complete obituary will be posted Sunday when complete from Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY By Linda Waggener We have received the sad word of the death of Joseph Payne, pastor of the Eunice Church of God in Adair County, who was found dead this morning, Thursday, February 18, 2016, at his home. Ellen Zornes, president of the Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce, said Joe will be greatly missed. In his community work as a former chamber board member, as well as in many other organizations, he touched a lot of people's lives in this region. Ellen and I remember working with Joe in the initial development of L.E.A.D. Adair organization at Berea College. He was a team player and vitally interested in seeing people grow and develop. Alan W. Reed, Adair County school superintendent, said Joe was an excellent school board member during his term of service and made important contributions in education. Rev. Payne said in a 2004 interview, "I am dedicated to the cause of Christ, spreading the good news of Jesus Christ and reaching lost souls." Obituary information will be shared as soon as it is received. This story was posted on 2016-02-18 10:57:15
