Winston Kelly Burton, Sr., 72 Russell County, KY (1943-2016)

He was a retired educator in the Russell County School System and attended Dunbar Hill Church. He was a member of a large, highly regarded family. He was a native of Adair County, KY, the son of the late Cecil McQueary Burton and the late James Eli Burton, and resident of Russell County at the time of his death. His wife, Debbie Burton, survives. He leaves 18 direct living descendants.

Winston Kelly Burton, Sr., of Russell Springs, KY passed away, Friday February 12, 2016 at Fair Oaks Health System, Jamestown, KY 42624.

Funeral services will be at 1pmCT, Wednesday February 17, 2016 at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, 391 East Steve Wariner Drive, Russell Springs, KY with Bro. Kelly Burton, Jr., officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 16, 2016, 5pm till 9pmCT at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in the McElroy Cemetery, Russell Springs, KY.

He was born on Wednesday April 21, 1943 in Columbia, Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Cecil McQueary Burton and the late James Eli Burton. He died Friday, February 12, 2016, in Jamestown, Russell County, KY at the age of 72 years, nine months, and 23 days.

He was a retired educator in the Russell County School System and attended Dunbar Hill Church.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Burton, Russell Springs, KY and the following:
  • Two daughters: Kristina (Evan) Daffron, Russell Springs, KY; and Scarlett (Carl) Devine, Lexington, KY

  • Four sons: Terry King, Campbellsville, KY; Jordan Burton, Russell Springs, KY; Israel Burton, Russell Springs, KY; Kelly (Lisa) Burton, Jr., Russell Springs, KY

  • Three sisters: Patricia Holt, Campbellsville, KY; Kay Thomas, Columbia, KY; and Marie Curry, Louisville, KY

  • Eight grandchildren: Ashley Hill, Joshua Burton, Kamryn Stewart, Grant Hayden, Gabriel Burton, Lucius Burton, and Phoenix Burton

  • Four great-grandchildren: Cooper Hill, Kinsley Hill, Jaxtyn Burton and Curtis Johnson
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Diane Marple, Gene Gray and Helen Curry
