Another Cycling National Championship for LWC: Bice in BMX Sabrina Bice captures women's BMX national title, Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders finish as national runner-up Click on headline for complete story By Charles Balcom LOUISVILLE, KY - Sabrina Bice added her name to the list of Lindsey Wilson national champions on Sunday as she captured the women's BMX individual national title at the 2016 Collegiate BMX National Championships held at the Kentucky Exposition Center. Bice edged out Marian's (IN) Kristen Bob in the main event on Sunday as Bice led right out of the gate and was able to hold off a late-charging Bob to secure the title. Bice becomes the 17th different Blue Raider to capture a national title for the Lindsey Wilson cycling program. As a team, Lindsey Wilson finished second overall after initially tying national champion Marian following the second day's events, but the Knights were awarded the title after the tiebreaking criteria. On Saturday, the Lindsey Wilson women's team captured first place to earn 94 points ahead of Marian who scored 83, while on the men's side Marian took first place with the Blue Raider men finishing second. On Sunday, the results were reversed with Marian's women's team taking first place followed by the Blue Raiders finishing second, and the Lindsey Wilson men's team took first as Marian finished second. With both teams deadlocked at 354 total team points, the tiebreaking criteria came into effect. Bice finished first on the women's side, while Marian's Tyler Whitfield took first on the men's side, sending the tiebreaker down to the next placements. Marian's Kristen Bob finished second on the women's side while Corey Ross took second for the Blue Raiders on the men's side, sending things to a third tiebreaker placement. Marian had riders finish in third place on both the men's and women's side, which earned the Knights the national title. Heather Collman placed fifth in the main event on the women's side, followed by teammate Adrian Sanders in sixth place. On the men's side, Ross led the way in the main event in second place followed by Chris White who captured fourth. Brandon McDowell finished fifth and Jacob Smith completed the team in the main event in sixth place. This story was posted on 2016-02-08 06:31:30
