LOUISVILLE, KY - (Sat 6 Feb 2016) - No. 3-ranked Lindsey Wilson (KY) needed a dramatic comeback to pull out a 5-4 win over host Bellarmine (KY) on Saturday at Eddie Weber Tennis Complex.

The Blue Raiders - who consistently play NCAA competition early in the season - wins their season opener for the first time since 2012 with the come-from-behind-win.

Lindsey Wilson (1-0) trailed 4-1 after dropping all three doubles matches and the top singles match. The Blue Raiders captured the final four matches - all in straight sets - to take the win.

Natalia Kattah ignited the comeback at No. 2 singles with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Caitlin Hanley to cut the deficit to 4-2. Fiona Curty - ranked No. 31 in the NAIA singles - pulled the Blue Raiders within one point with a win at No. 4 singles. Curty dropped just four games in a 6-1, 6-3 win over Mairin Cotter.

The straight-sets wins continued for the Blue Raiders in the fifth-seeded match. Maria del Mar Prados coasted to a 6-0, 6-2 win over Bess Fley to tie the match at 4-4 and set up a decisive match.

Gabriella Pedroza provided the match-clenching win in her first collegiate team match. Pedroza defeated Sydney Landers 6-3, 7-5 in the sixth-seeded match to give Lindsey Wilson the 5-4 win.

Despite the strong finish, it was a frustrating start for the Blue Raiders with close losses in doubles play.

The Knights (1-2) scored the match's first points as Landers and Marissa Kovach defeated Kattah and Pedroza 8-3 at the third-seeded doubles match.

Bellarmine doubled its lead to 2-0 following Nadia Sabie and Mary Elaine Kuo's 9-7 win over Prados and Henar Munoz in the top singles match.

The final doubles match proved to be the most competitive as the two teams battled into a tiebreak. Hanley and Maggie Walroth outlasted Curty and Jessica King 7-5 in the tiebreak to take the match 9-8 and give the Knights a 3-0 lead.

King opened singles play by getting the Blue Raiders first point of 2016.

The 18th-ranked player in the NAIA was dominant in a 6-0, 6-3 win over Kuo in the third-seeded singles match.

Bellarmine closed within one point of winning the match after Walroth won a superset tiebreaker over Munoz. The pair split the first two sets but Walroth won 11-9 in the superset to take the match and give the Knights the 4-1 win prior to the Lindsey Wilson comeback. - Chris Wells is Sports Information Director at Lindsey Wilson College
