Mitchell Coomer, 60, Adair Co., KY (1955-2016)

Mitchell was involved in the 1980's and 90's with his father and brother in Coomer Drilling Company in oil exploration and production in South Central Kentucky. He was currently the President of Triple C Drilling Company in Columbia, KY. Mitchell's passion was truck and tractor pulling. He had affiliations nationwide with truck and tractor pulling events with his Coomer Motorsports team. He held multiple national truck and tractor pulling championship titles spanning the past 40 years. He was a member of the Pro Pulling League, Kentuckiana Truck Pullers Associaton and Bluegrass Pulling Series. He was member of the 3 Trees Church in Russell Springs, KY. He was a member of a famed and highly regarded Adair County family, highly esteemed in the oil, merchant, racing and entertainment business.

Mitchell Coomer , 60 of Columbia, KY passed away suddenly Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 1:14 PM as the result of an explosion and fire at his home on M. Coomer Road, Columbia, KY. He was born February 3, 1955 in Columbia, KY the son of the late Rollin Bannard and Dorothy Christine Page Coomer.

A joint memorial service for Mitchell Coomer, Lorie Rodgers Coomer, Steven Aaron Keltner, and Kinley Rodgers will be held Monday, February 1, 2016 at 7pmCT, at 3trees Church 3515 Russell Springs Road, Russell Springs, KY. A joint celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at 11amCT, at 3trees Church. Visitation will be after 3pmCT, Monday, February 1, 2016, at the church. Cremation has been chosen.

Mitchell Coomer was born February 3, 1955 in Columbia, Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Rollin Bannard and Dorothy Christine Page Coomer. He died Tuesday, January 26, 2016, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 60 years, 11 months, and 23 days.

Mitchell was involved in the 1980's and 90's with his father and brother in Coomer Drilling Company in oil exploration and production in South Central Kentucky. He was currently the President of Triple C Drilling Company in Columbia, KY.

Mitchell's passion was truck and tractor pulling. He had affiliations nationwide with truck and tractor pulling events with his Coomer Motorsports team. He held multiple national truck and tractor pulling championship titles spanning the past 40 years. He was a member of the Pro Pulling League, Kentuckiana Truck Pullers Associaton and Bluegrass Pulling Series. He was member of the 3 Trees Church in Russell Springs, KY.

Mitchell and his wife Lorie Rodgers Coomer departed this life together January 26, 2016.

Survivors include:
  • His children: Jason Matthew Coomer & wife Tabatha of Columbia, KY; Justin Kyle Coomer of Columbia, KY; Jessie Wayne Coomer & wife Tara of Bowling Green, KY; Shanna Nacole Coomer of Columbia, KY; and Jessica Michelle Coomer Aduny and husband Moses of Maitland, Florida

  • Two step children: Heather Rodgers of Lexington, KY and Josh Rodgers and wife Ashley, of Liberty, KY

  • One brother: Travis Coomer and wife Nadine of Columbia, KY

  • Nine grandchildren survive

  • His step granddaughter Kinley Rodgers perished with them on January 26, 2016.
