Adair Schools, KCTCS, SCC forge alliance Robotics welding will be a bonus program for program with a robotics welding arm on site; program is a forerunner to the new community learning center to be built across from Adair County High School which be be a facility to train all Adair Countians for high tech jobs. Click on headline for story with photo(s) By Ed Waggener Adair County Schools and Somerset Community College (KCTCS) have been working through the Lake Cumberland Area Development District to bring training programs to Adair County to meet manufacturing needs. For the first time ever, beginning January 2016, adults in Adair County will be able to earn take Gas Metal Arc Welding classes leading to an approved certified certificate through SCC, all at Adair County High Schools. Classes will be offered in the evenings, and will be taught by Somerset CC/KCTCS certified teachers. According to Adair County Superintendent Alan Reed, this the first step in forming a long term relationship in adult Career Technical Ed courses as they develop at Adair County High School. Supt. Reed credited the ACHS Vocational Agriculture Unit and the welding unit for offering their assistance to train the first group of about 20 welders for Stephens Corporation in Burkesville. "It seems from our discussions that SCC is sold on the idea that Adair County is a community on the precipice of economic growth, and a trained work force is the most important element. "It's great to see ACHS play the role of the economic engine that we have said we said we will become. "ACHS will benefit from sharing new and improved welding equipment and access to faculty at Somerset Community College and KCTCS." This story was posted on 2015-12-14 15:46:32
