Lindsey Wilson Women's Soccer plays for the National Championship today. And the No. 1 Lindsey Wilson Volleyball is only two wins away, from the program's First Ever National Championship. It could happen today. By Charles Balcom News from Lindsey Wilson College SIOUX CITY, IOWA (Fri 4 Dec 2015) - The Lindsey Wilson volleyball team earned a spot in the final four of the NAIA Volleyball National Championship after a 3-1 (25-17, 25-18, 26-28, 25-22) victory over Georgetown in the quarterfinal round on Friday night at the Tyson Events Center. The top-seeded Blue Raiders (37-3) advance to their first-ever semifinal round against fourth-seeded Columbia (Mo.) on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. CT with a spot in the championship match on the line. In the fourth meeting of the season between the two Mid-South Conference foes, Lindsey Wilson once again came out on top over the Tigers (32-8) to complete their perfect 4-0 record against Georgetown. It was a milestone victory for Lindsey Wilson in many ways, including setting a new program record for most-consecutive wins with 29, along with setting a new school record for most wins in a single season with 37. Georgetown started the opening set with a 3-1 lead, but the Blue Raiders rolled off six-straight points thanks to some excellent service from Anna-Lena Elbers to take a 7-3 lead and force a Tiger timeout. Lindsey Wilson flourished from there as they proceeded to go on a 13-6 run and take a 20-9 lead. The excellent service from the Blue Raiders continued along with great blocking from Jamie Jehne and Carolynne Silva. When Lindsey Wilson was unable to get the block down, the back row was perfectly placed to dig the ball up. The Blue Raiders had a little trouble closing out the set as Georgetown fought off three set points, but Lindsey Wilson went to the senior Carol Siqueira who finished off the set with a kill to take the frame 25-17. The Blue Raiders hit .283 in the set with 17 kills while Georgetown hit .077 with seven errors while being blocked three times by the Lindsey Wilson front line. Lindsey Wilson's offense continued to shine early in set two building a 10-4 lead with eight points coming from kills alone. But Georgetown refused to back down quietly and after trailing 11-5, the Tigers climbed all the way back to within one at 13-12. Following the Tiger run, Lindsey Wilson promptly responded with a 7-2 run to take a 20-14 lead in set two. The Blue Raider back line continued to make great digs and reaching for shots to keep the play alive and the hitters followed through with powerful shots to stretch the Blue Raider lead. Georgetown again put together a run of points as the Lindsey Wilson offense struggled to find kills and the Tigers cut the lead to three at 20-17. But the Blue Raiders had an answer again and closed out the frame on a 5-1 run to take set two 25-18 and take a 2-0 match lead. Lindsey Wilson used two kills each from Silva and Siqueira during the late run. The Blue Raiders posted a .341 hitting percentage with four errors and 18 kills, while holding the Tigers to a .136 percentage with five hitting errors. Through two sets played, Lindsey Wilson had more kills (35-21), blocks (4-2), assists (32-19) and digs (47-37) than their counterparts across the net. The third set saw Lindsey Wilson hold a slight lead for the early parts of the frame as the Blue Raiders built as much as a three-point advantage, but the Tigers hung around and were eventually able to bring things level at 16-16. Georgetown took control of the set from there and proceeded to build a 24-21 lead over the Blue Raiders. Lindsey Wilson needed a rally and they were able to get one as they fought off three-straight set points to tie the match 24-24 using kills from Siqueira and Silva and a block from the Jehne-Silva combination. Georgetown went up again with set point but after a long rally, a Siqueira kill brought things level and a kill from Knudsen put the Blue Raiders ahead with set point at 26-25. But Lindsey Wilson was unable to finish things off and the Tigers took the next three points to escape with the 28-26 win and force a fourth set. Georgetown held a better hitting percentage for the first time of the contest with a .164 to .117 advantage. Lindsey Wilson committed 10 attacking errors in the losing set. The fourth set saw Georgetown take control out of the gate with a 3-0 lead. The Tigers held that lead until Lindsey Wilson stormed back to tie things up 8-8. Lindsey Wilson took their first lead after Jehne and Silva again combined to stop a Tiger attack cold for a block for the 9-8 advantage. From there it was a back-and-forth affair with neither team able to create much separation. With the match tied at 15-15, Lindsey Wilson put together a quick three-point run to force a Georgetown timeout as the Blue Raiders led 18-15. The Tigers once again made things interesting and cut it to a one point game multiple times, even as late as 23-22. But Knudsen came through again with a powerful kill to make it 23-24 before Jehne and Silva once again emphatically stuffed the Tiger attack right to the ground on the next ball to give the Blue Raiders the 25-22 set win and the 3-1 match victory. The Blue Raiders posted a .222 hitting percentage in the final set, topping the Tigers .114. By night's end, Lindsey Wilson held the advantage in attacking percentage (.230 to .126), kills (65 to 51), assists (60 to 46), digs (97 to 81), aces (4 to 2) and blocks (11 to 10). Knudsen took her turn to post a career night for the Blue Raiders in the national tournament as she led the team with 20 kills. Siqueira posted another double-double with 17 kills and 17 digs. Silva went into double digits with 10 kills. Makenzie Montano posted a triple-double with 10 kills, 44 assists and a career-high 27 digs. Caitlyn Tino posted 25 digs in the win.
