COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson College athletic teams showed a lot of Christmas spirit Tuesday.

Members of the college's athletics teams recently collected 642 shoeboxes of gifts that will be sent to children in developing countries during the Christmas season. The LWC shoeboxes collected for Operation Christmas Child included toys, school supplies and personal hygiene items. Many of the shoeboxes also included notes and letters from LWC students.

The college will continue to collect shoeboxes through November 23, 2015.

The shoeboxes will be distributed by Operation Christmas Child, an international aid organization.

Operation Christmas Child is coordinated by Samaritan's Purse, a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization that provides spiritual and material aid worldwide.

Since 1970, Samaritan's Purse has worked with victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease and famine.
