Mr. Brickman brings to the administration both public and private sector leadership experience and a family lineage that goes deep into Kentucky's political history. "Blake Brickman is an outstanding individual with all of the qualities that I need in a Chief of Staff," said Governor-Elect Bevin. "He will lead our team with integrity and conviction. I am grateful for the commitment he is willing to make to serve our administration and the Commonwealth." "It is an honor to serve Governor Bevin and all the people of Kentucky," said Brickman. "I look forward to working with others from across the Commonwealth committed to Governor Bevin's vision to get our fiscal house in order and create more economic and educational opportunities for all Kentuckians." Brickman previously served as U.S. Senator Jim Bunning's Chief of Staff in Washington D.C., working closely with many state and federal officials and government agencies. After moving back to Kentucky, Brickman practiced law as a civil litigator and in-house counsel. He was also a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Amul Thapar in Pikeville and London. He is widely regarded for his success on Kentucky political campaigns, having served as campaign manager for Congressman Andy Barr and advisor to State Senator Ralph Alvarado's campaign in 2014. He is also committed to economic development, having served as a board member of the Lexington Downtown Development Authority from 2011-2014. Brickman's family has a long and distinguished bipartisan record in Kentucky public service. His grandfather was Democratic Governor Edward T. "Ned" Breathitt (1963-1967), the first southern governor to pass civil rights legislation. His great-great-grandfather James Breathitt, a Republican, was elected Attorney General in 1907. Brickman has a J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law and a B.A. in History and Spanish from Vanderbilt University. He lives in Lexington with his wife Claire, who is an attorney, and their three children. This story was posted on 2015-11-12 08:12:58
