BOWLING GREEN, KY - The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team fell 84-71 to Western Kentucky in an exhibition contest on Monday night, November 2, 2015, at E. A. Diddle Arena.

The Blue Raiders ended up outscoring the Hilltoppers in the second half 44-38, but Western Kentucky built a 19-point lead in the first half and it proved to be too much for Lindsey Wilson to overcome.

Both Kevin Windley and Bryan Wallace posted 19 points in the loss, Windley setting a new career high in just his third game as a Blue Raider. Hannes Erhardt also went into double digits with 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds and Charles Sutton finished with 10 points, all in the second half.

The game began with both teams struggling to find a rhythm as Western Kentucky led 5-4 over three minutes into the game. The Blue Raiders seemed out of sync and bothered early by the size of Western Kentucky, who boasts eight players at least 6'6 or taller, including a pair of seven footers, as they sent up air balls and made errant passes in the early going.

Despite the early struggles Lindsey Wilson was able to keep things close for the better part of the first half as Western Kentucky did not open up a double-digit lead until the 8:15 mark of the first half with a 25-15 lead.

The Hilltoppers used a 19-4 run over a seven-minute span to take a 33-15 lead. In that same span, Lindsey Wilson went on a four-minute scoring drought. Windley led the Blue Raiders in the first half with 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting including a number of acrobatic drives in the lane.

At the half, Lindsey Wilson trailed 46-27 with 22 points coming in the paint. The Blue Raiders shot 41.4 percent in the opening half and failed to make a three-pointer going 0-for-9 from beyond the arc. Western Kentucky answered with 48.5 percent from the field and 7-of-17 from three for 41.2 percent. The Hilltoppers held the rebounding advantage 23-14 and scored 11 points off of seven Blue Raider turnovers.

Western Kentucky used quick passes, dribble penetration and kick-out passes, strong screens and a fast-paced transition offense to build their lead. The Blue Raiders did their best to counter, but the Hilltoppers were able to close out with their length and quickness to shorten any separation Lindsey Wilson created.

Lindsey Wilson finally made a shot from beyond the arc early in the second half when Wallace sank a three at the 19:27 mark of the second half, just three of his second-half 13 points. Dmitry Utolin and Sutton also both scored their first points of the game early in the second frame. Lindsey Wilson did find success in breaking the Hilltoppers' full court press attempts, quickly moving the ball down to the paint for an easy layup multiple times.

The Blue Raiders continued to battle as the half went on and even got the Hilltopper lead down to 13 points at 56-43 at the 14:12 mark, but Western Kentucky responded with an 8-2 run to make it a 64-45 game.

Hilltoppers opened the half making 7-of-8 shots, but then went 1-of-6 from the floor and allowed the Blue Raiders to trim it back to 13 at 67-54 with 7:40 to play.

As the game went on, the Blue Raiders continued to hang with the Hilltoppers but were never able to get the lead down to single digits. The lead established by Western Kentucky late in the first half proved to be too much to overcome. Lindsey Wilson trailed by as many as 21 points in the game, but by night's end they fell by just 13 at 84-71.

Lindsey Wilson finished the game shooting 45.3 percent from the field, improving in the second half in three point shooting going 5-for-10. Western Kentucky shot 50.9 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from three, making just one attempt in the second half.

The Blue Raiders finished with 44 points in the paint compared to 30 by the Hilltoppers, but lost the overall rebounding battle 43-27.

Western Kentucky's Aaron Cosby led all scorers with 22 points, with Chris Harrison-Docks adding 15 and Fredrick Edmond chipping in 13.
