Judge Richard Benton Froedge, Metcalfe Co., KY (1934-2015)

He was a distinguished citizen of Metcalfe County, KY, and the patriarch of an outstanding family. He was the son of the late Hershel and Lula Harvey Froedge. His wife, Lora Belle Forrest Froedge, survives. He leaves seven direct living descendants. Judge Froedge was a retired construction worker and served as Metcalfe County Judge Executive from 1993 until 1998. He was one of the few and last to serve a five year term in the state of Kentucky. Richard was a member of the Pleasant Hill Church of Christ.

Judge Richard Benton Froedge, age 80, of Edmonton, KY, former Metcalfe County Judge Executive passed away Tuesday October 6, 2015 at his home after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held 2pmCT, Friday October 9, 2015, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Randolph. Visitation will be from 4pmCT until 8pmET, Thursday, October 8, 2015, and after 9amCT, Friday at the funeral home.



Judge Richard Benton Froedge, Metcalfe Co., KY (1934-2015)

He was born October 25, 1934.He was the son of the late Hershel and Lula Harvey Froedge. He died October 6, 2015, at the age of 80 years, 11 months, and 11 days.

Judge Froedge was a retired construction worker and served as Metcalfe County Judge Executive from 1993 until 1998. He was one of the few and last to serve a five year term in the state of Kentucky. Richard was a member of the Pleasant Hill Church of Christ.

He is survived by the following:
  • His wife: Lora Belle Forrest Froedge of Edmonton, KY

  • Two sons: Dr. Mark Froedge and wife Vickie of Edmonton, KY; and Michael Froedge of Edmonton, KY

  • One daughter: Dr. Rebecca Greer and husband Tony of Glasgow, KY
  • Three grandchildren: Dr. Brandon Greer and wife Dr. Stacie Greer of Bowling Green, KY; and Colton Forrest Froedge and Riley Brooke Froedge both of Edmonton, KY
  • One great grandson: Weston Hunter Greer of Bowling Green, KY.
