CAVU for today: Eveyone is out flying

Veteran aviator enjoying flying today, but is on lookout for 'everybody who has a flying machine' who may be out committing their own version of aviation. He's also commenting on the the new lights on the tower north of Columbia; good for aviation, bad for dairy goat production - meaning a hard candy Christmas at the Campbell household!

It's a beautiful day to fly! Sending a picture looking south from 1,000 ft in the air as I departed Campbellsville this morning.

The meteorological term for today is CAVU, Clear Above, Visibility Unlimited.

For those of us who fly a few days a week, a day like today, although welcomed, is met with some apprehension because we know that everybody who has a flying machine is out committing their own version of aviation.

Often this means they're counting their cows, buzzing their house or maybe even taking pictures! Everything but looking out for other planes or making necessary radio calls.

Hopefully they can avoid flying into the Tower just north of town with the recently enhanced lighting.

I was really glad to see the new lights; however, my two dairy goats now just constantly stare at the flashing lights and milk production is way down. Less milk means less goat cheese to sell and less goat cheese to sell means it's likely going to be a hard candy Christmas at the Campbell house; poor Dalton. - Doug Campbell
