Betty Jo Compton, 82, Adair Co., KY (1932-2015)

She professed faith in Christ and was a homemaker. She was the matriarch of an outstanding Adair County, KY family. She was a native of Adair County, KY and a resident of the county at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Elbert Clifton and Mattie Dimple McClister Loy. Her husband of over 62 years, Eddie Compton, survives. She leaves 41 direct and three step living descendants.

Betty Jo Compton, 82, of Fairplay, Kentucky, died Sunday, September 27, 2015 at 4:43amET, at Norton Women and Children’s Hospital in Louisville, KY.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at 1pmCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Pat Smith officiating. Burial will be in Loy Cemetery in Fairplay, KY. Visitation will be after 4pmCT, Monday, September 18, 2015. Casket Bearers: Jerry Wayne Compton, Anthony Foster, Michael Compton, Justin Hancock, James Napier, Jon Cox, Benjamin Compton, and Matthew Compton.



Betty Jo Compton, 82, Adair Co., KY (1932-2015)

She was born December 15, 1932, in Adair County, KY. She was the late Elbert Clifton and Mattie Dimple McClister Loy. She died Sunday, September 27, 2015, in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 82 years, nine months, and 12 days.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Thurman Jean Loy and one great-grandson, William Trent Hampton.

She professed faith in Christ and was a homemaker.

Survivors include:
  • Her husband: Eddie Compton of Fairplay, whom she married December 25, 1953

  • Three sons: Jerry (Cindy) Compton, Tony Joe (Pam) Compton, and Stephen (Pam) Compton all of Fairplay, KY

  • Six daughters: Nancy (Jeff) Burton, Betty Sue (Charlie) Hancock, Rhonda (Garry) Cox, Tammy (Bill) Sexton all of Columbia, KY; Marsha (Jim) Napier & Kathy (Keith) Greer all of Fairplay, KY

  • One sister: Myrna Coomer of Fairplay, KY

  • One brother: Tony Loy of Fairplay, KY

  • Fourteen grandchildren

  • Fifteen great-grandchildren

  • Three step-great-grandchildren

  • Three great-great grandchildren

  • and a host of other relatives and friends
