Quinn Lasley is for Mr. Reed; plans to vote for new contract Her vote will assure at least a 3-2 vote in favor of new contract for Mr. Reed. Division 2 board member says she was not voting against Mr. Reed, only wanted matter to be tabled to give her time to get opinions of constituents and of school teachers, students, and staff before making a final decision. The special board meeting has been called at her request. Division II Board member Quinn Lasley, at left, file photo Link to contact information for all members of the Adair County School Board at the end of this article By Ed Waggener Quinn Lasley, in a telephone interview this morning, said that she is in favor of renewing Alan W. Reed's contract. "I was for that on Thursday night," she said. "But I had only a short time - two days notice - that I knew it was to be considered. I've done that, found broad support for Mr. Reed, and intend to vote to renew his contract. Two things which guides her, she said, are, "First, concern for the students and their success, and secondly, what the people in my district think, what the teachers and staff think, and what the students think." "I wanted time to talk with them," she said, "and I have. A majority are favorable of Mr. Reed," she said, adding, "There is some negativity out there. That would be expected on any issue." What's she's learned in the past few days has prompted her to ask the school board chairman, Floyd Burton, to call tomorrow night's Special Session, set for 6pmCT, Thursday, September 24, 2015, for another vote on Superintendent Reed's contract. "I'll continue to speak out, particularly for equal opportunity for all students," she said. "I will be for the school system paying for school supplies for all students. I will continue to fight for teachers and people who cook the meals, drive the buses, keep the grounds and buildings clean and safe. I'll be their voice, too," she said.
