By Harry Loy

Intelligent, hardworking, visionary, honest master communicator--These are the traits I would look for if I were hiring a school superintendent.

Those are also the traits I would use in describing Alan Reed.

Under Mr. Reed's extraordinary leadership, students in Adair County are now attending modern and well equipped facilities.

Surely, we all appreciate the cleanliness and beauty of these facilities.

Students are also being exposed to a comprehensive and ever expanding curriculum that will enable young people to be competitive when they leave the Adair County Schools.

Equally important, the Adair County School System is free of politics and cronyism.

For this, we should all be thankful.

- Harry Loy, retired school superintendent and State Department of Education official
