He was the owner of Garrett Gate Company. He was a native of St. Louis and a resident of Dunnville, KY at the time of his death. He was the son of the late James A. & Alma Bishop Garrett II. His wife, Elizabeth Barlow Garrett, survives. He leaves 11 direct and 2 step living descendants.

James A. Garrett III, 77, of Dunnville, KY, passed away on Wednesday September 16t, 2015 at his residence.

Funeral Services will be held 1pmCT/2pmET, Saturday September 19, 2015 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel, 142 KY 49, Liberty, KY, with Rev. Paul Patton officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be held 10amCT/11amET, Saturday September 19, 2015 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.



James Garrett III, Casey County, KY (1937-2015)


James A. Garrett III, of Dunnville, KY, was born in St. Louis, MO on October 12, 1937. He was son of the late James A. and Alma Bishop Garrett II. He died Wednesday, September 16, 2015, in Dunnville, Casey County, KY, at the age of 77 years, 11 months, and four days.

He was the owner of Garrett Gate Company.

Survivors include:
  • His spouse: Elizabeth Barlow Garrett

  • One son: George Garrett of Dunnville, KY

  • Three daughters: Patricia Miller of Louisville, KY; Wilma Greer of Centreville, VA; and Mary Agee of Nicholasville, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Jonathan and Daniel Miller, Bryan and Brent Agee and Ashley Greer

  • Two step grandchildren: Jordan White and Brittany Emerson

  • And two great grandchildren: Preston and Caiden Agee.
Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by Three Brothers: George Marion Garrett, J.A. Garrett and A.B. Garrett.
