They start their season tomorrow and no it isn't the ADAIR Band. It is the award winning Adair County High School Academic Team. These students work as hard as any athletic group but they use their intellect not brawn. I was truly amazed by their wonderful personalities and fun loving spirit but when it came time to work, they were all business. This weekend they have their first tournament in Glasgow, Kentucky. It is a PACE National Qualifier which is a big deal. There will be teams from four different states including Kentucky, South Carolina, Michigan, and Tennessee. The top teams from the state of Kentucky will be attending from Ashland to Paducah. The PACE National Qualifier Quiz Bowl Tournament will be testing students in History, Current Events, Literature/Language Arts, Science, Math, Arts and Humanities, Philosophy, and Religion. Both our Varsity and Underclassman teams will be competing. This Quiz Bowl Tournament is like a early season "All-Stars Game". These hard working students will have 12 rounds of competition throughout the daylong event and start their day 8:30 am. The competition will be stiff considering there will be students on different teams who have competed in Teen Jeopardy in their ranks. Adair County Schools wants to tell this year's team we know they will continue the great legacy of the ACHS Academic Team and we look forward to them having a grand season. Good luck tomorrow in Glasgow and show them what ACHS is all about! This story was posted on 2015-08-28 15:24:52
