Mallie Wright, 102, Russell County, KY (1913-2015)

She was a native of Clinton County, KY, and a resident of Russell County, KY, at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Clayborn & Lizzie Frost Massengale, and the widow of Rev. Oda Sherman Wright. She leaves five direct living descendants. She was a homemaker and a member of French Valley United Methodist Church.

Mallie Wright, 102, of Russell Springs, KY, died Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at the Russell County Hospital, Russell Springs.

Funeral service for Mallie Wright will be 1pmCT, Friday, August 21, 2015 at the French Valley United Methodist Church, 2272 High 379, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Barry Bradshaw and Bro. Charles Edwards officiating. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Thursday at Bernard Funeral Home, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, and after 12pmCT, Friday at the church. Interment in the Russell Springs City Cemetery. Pallbearers: Zach Overstreet, Andrew Overstreet, Jon Brock; Jerry Stearns, Dexter Marcum, and Lonnie Marcum



Mallie Wright, 102, Russell County, KY (1913-2015)


She was born March 25, 1913 in Clinton County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Clayborn & Lizzie Frost Massengale. She died Tuesday, August 18, 2015, in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY, at the age of 102 years, four months, and 24 days.

She was a homemaker and a member of French Valley United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Oda Sherman Wright and a son, Knox Wright.

Survivors include:
  • One daughter: Betty Overstreet, Russell Springs, KY

  • Grandson: Gary (Lisa) Overstreet, Mt. Washington, KY

  • Two great grandchildren: Zachary Overstreet, and Andrew Overstreet

  • One great great grandchild: Makenzie Overstreet
The family requests memorials to the French Valley United Methodist Church Memorial Fund. These can be made at the funeral home.
