Akebono part-time employment opportunity for WKU students College students at WKU/Glasgow eligible for weekend jobs starting at $13.25 per hour at Akebono Brake Corporation, and chance to receive 50% tuition reimbursement after successful completion of semester Click on headline for complete story GLASGOW, KY (6 Aug 2015) - WKU Glasgow will host an informational session, at 2pmCT, Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at the campus at 500 Hilltopper Way, Glasgow, KY, to explain a developing partnership between the university and local employer, Akebono Brake Corporation. Billed as the Akebono College Weekend Program, human resource officials and WKU administrators will explain this new part-time employment opportunity for WKU students at the August 12, 2015 session. "We have a lot of students attending WKU Glasgow who must find part-time employment while attending college," explained Regional Chancellor Dr. Sally Ray. "So, we've been searching for an opportunity to partner with a local company to meet this need, and we are very pleased that Akebono has stepped up to join us. In addition, we are excited to share that this new partnership will not only mean part-time employment for our students but tuition reimbursement, as well." According to Michael Blackburn, HR Manager for Akebono Brake Corporation manufacturing plant in Glasgow, this program will employ college students on a Saturday-Sunday shift with a starting wage of $13.25 per hour. In addition, for students who successfully complete the semester, the company will reimburse those students the cost of 50% of tuition. "Akebono believes in the strength and quality of the students attending WKU, and we want to support and invest in their futures in this way," said Blackburn. "We have a strong workforce already, but demand for our products continues to grow, so these student workers will help support our existing workforce in the plant. Ray and Blackburn invite all WKU students who are seeking part-time employment or would like to know more about the employment and tuition reimbursement program to attend the informational session on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 2pmCT on the WKU Glasgow campus.
