Better signage would help at Hurt & Jamestown Street

Commentary: Some don't realize they can use a turning lane to enter as well as exit by Columbia IGA. Driving While Discourteous hurts town. Use of turn signals at all time low, it seems, he writes. Peer Pressure can go a long way toward improving driver courtesies, keeping our town clean. And an important postscript on appreciation of Lindsey's Plant Operations' leadership.

Personal commentary

I have always used the turn lanes up by Columbia IGA to enter the road as well as exit.

I take it that's how they are meant to be used, I see a lot of drivers afraid to pull out to the turn lane when traffic to their left is clear but not clear to their right.

I believe signage telling drivers that it's ok to pull into the center turn when entering the road would really help here.

Turn signal usages is at an all time low in here; as a common courtesy I try to signal every time I make a turn, be there traffic or not as to create a habit of use of turn signals.

Driver courtesy is another big factor to make people want to come to our town, and it only takes a few to make us look bad. It only take a few rotten tomatoes to run a whole basket.

The police department should stop trash throwers and ask them to please stop trashing our streets and yards; if everyone of good Columbians tell people you see and know not to do this, we'll find that peer pressure works!

Thank for letting me comment Ralph Roy Waggener. PS: Lindsey Wilson College is well kept and looks good all the time, thanks to Mike Newton and his crew, what a big plus for Columbia LWC is!
