Travel: construction alerts, KYTC District 3

Bowling Green, KY (July 24, 2015)-- The expected traffic impacts for July 27 through July 31 are listed below. All work is subject to change:



Louie B. Nunn Cumberland Parkway
  • A pavement rehabilitation project will continue between the I-65 interchange and the Glasgow Outer Loop project. Motorists should expect short-term lane closures for the next few weeks as crews begin the first phase of the project. Wide load restrictions remain in place between the 0 and 11 mile markers. Eastbound lane restriction at mile point 8.2 is expected to be expanded to 13 ft. as temporary barrier walls will be removed from the bridge. Westbound traffic will be restricted to 13 ft. and less. Motorists should be aware that the speed limit has been reduced through the construction zone and double fines signs are posted throughout the project.

  • Natcher Parkway
    • As work crews continue work from last week, there may be a lane closure in both directions on the Natcher Parkway at mile markers 35-37. This lane closure will allow work crews to repair sections of concrete pavement. This work is expected to be completed by July 31, 2015.

    Allen County
    • Hade Bell Road - Road is closed as construction of a replacement bridge over West Bays Fork continues.

    Barren County
    • KY 90- (Between Adam McCreary Road and KY 839) - Earthwork operations will continue. Expect an increase in construction traffic and intermittent flagging operations. Traffic has been switched to the new alignment between Green Valley Road and Bethel Church Road. Traffic has been shifted to a temporary alignment between Glover Road and Elbow Springs Creek Bridge and will remain there until further notice. Traffic will be switched to a new alignment between Elbow Springs Creek Bridge to 0.2 miles east of Kino Road. Motorists should be aware that the speed limit has been reduced through the construction zone.

    • KY 1297 (Old Bowling Green Rd) - Contractors will be paving KY 1297 from Steam Mill Rd. to 2200' east of Beckton Rocky Hill Rd. Flaggers will be present.

    Butler County
    • In Morgantown on US 231, mile points 11-1- the road is closed in both directions from Old Logansport Road to KY 70. Motorists will use KY 70 and Old Logansport Road as the detour. The closure is expected to last until August 23rd. Boat Factory Road will still be accessible and access to businesses on the closed portion of U.S. 231 will be available on Old Logansport Road. Motorists may experience some delays on the detour route during the morning and afternoon rush hours.

    • KY 403- A section of KY 403 in Butler County is closed to thru traffic until mid-August. The road will close near mile point 6 between Cool Springs Road and G Meredith Road. A detour utilizing Mooretown Road and G Meredith Road will be in place.

    Edmonson County
    • KY 743- (Between KY 101 and Sulphur Road) - Earthwork operations will continue for a widening project. Expect an increase in construction traffic and intermittent flagging operations.

    • KY 70- Elite Contractors will continue work painting the bridge over the Green River on KY 70. The bridge will be restricted to only one lane with signals directing traffic. The paint is being put on to protect the bridge from weather elements and prevent rusting of the steel. The lane restriction is expected to be in place through early September. Motorists need to expect travel delays with his restriction and use caution while in this area.

    Logan County
    • KY 663- A section of KY 663 in Logan County is closed and will reopen in mid-August. The closure will take place near the 8.5 mile marker and between both sections of Jim Soyars Road. The detour will utilize Jim Soyars Road. This closure will allow Cambry Contracting Inc to replace a small bridge over Pleasant Run Creek.

    • US 68x through Russellville - Scotty's Contracting is milling and resurfacing operations on a section of US68x (US 68 Business) in Russellville. During this operation one lane closure will be in place from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists are encouraged to slow down and use caution when travelling through work zones. This work may be delayed due to weather.

    Warren County
    • I-65 to US 31-W Connector - Contractor will continue to build grade between I-65 and US 31-W. Construction traffic will also be crossing US 68 within the project limits over steel plates. Flaggers will be present when construction vehicles will be crossing. Outside shoulder will be closed on I-65 southbound between mile markers 31-29.

    • Three Springs Widening - Contractor will continue to widen from near Fieldstone Avenue to tie into existing Phase 1 widening project near the car dealership. Traffic should be alert as trucks and equipment enter and exit the work zone.

    • KY 2629 Bridge Maintenance - Contractors will continue to work on this bridge maintenance project on Old Scottsville Road on the bridge over Drakes Creek. Most of the work will be done off the road below the bridge but possible lane closures may be in place between the hours of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. to perform the work.

    • US 231 Sidewalk Job - The contractor will continue to work at the intersection of Scottsville Road and Cumberland Trace finishing up signal work to get the project completed.

    • Bogle Road - Contractor is continuing to build the new bridge over the Railroad. This road will continue to remain closed until the project is complete. A detour is in place.

    • Intersection Improvement Job - Contractor will continue to work on the Intersections of Cemetery Road and Cumberland Trace; Cemetery Road and Lovers Lane; US 68X and Veterans Memorial by Hardees; Avenue of Champions and University Blvd; Fairview and US 31-W Bypass. The contractor will be sawing in signal loops and then will put surface down and then apply pavement markings. This work will be done during the night between the hours of 7pm and 6am. This job is expected to be complete by July 31st.
