Crash involving commercial vehicle claims life of 9 year old Taylorsville boy, Own Higginbotham, prounounced deceased at the scene on US 31W in Franklin, KY by the Simpson Co, KY coroner. Another passenger, Taylor Higginbotham, airlifted to Vanderbilt. Driver of box truck treated and released. Click on headline for complete story By Jared Newberry, Public Affairs Officer KSP, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Region 2, Louisville, KY< FRANKLIN, KY (29 Jun 2015) - Kentucky State Police CVE Division, Post 3 Bowling Green, KY, was notified of a multiple vehicle crash in the 4000 block of US31W at approximately 2pmCT, Monday, June 29, 2015. The crash occurred when a Lexus passenger car operated by Peggy Groves of Franklin KY was traveling southbound and attempted to pass another vehicle. Her vehicle travelled into the path of a Ford box truck traveling northbound and operated by Gary Dalton of Bowling Green KY. The impact caused Ms. Grove's vehicle to then strike a parked and unoccupied vehicle in the parking lot of the Hot Plate Restaurant. 9 year old Owen Higginbotham of Taylorsville KY was pronounced deceased by the Simpson County Coroner from injuries received in the crash. Another passenger, Taylor Higginbotham also of Taylorsville KY was transported, treated and released for minor injuries. Ms. Groves was transported by helicopter to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville remained there at the time of this story. Mr. Dalton was transported and released for minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation by CVE Officer R. Murley. KSP-CVE was assisted on scene by Simpson Co Fire/EMS, Simpson County Coroner, and KSP Post 3.
