Anna Jewell Russell Hedgespeth, 84, Green Co., KY (1931-2015)

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church. She was a retired machine operator for Fruit of the Loom, Inc., and helped run the Hedgespeth Country Store. She was a native of Green County and a resident of the county at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Jimmy Taylor Russell and Anna Wood Wilcoxson Russell and the widow of Vora Dale Hedgespeth, her husband of over 63 years. She leaves 12 direct living descendants.

Mrs. Anna Jewell Russell Hedgespeth of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Jimmy Taylor Russell and Anna Wood Wilcoxson Russell, was born on April 25, 1931 in Green County, Kentucky, and departed this life on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital. She was 84 years, one month, and 30 days of age.

The funeral services for Mrs. Anna Jewell Russell Hedgespeth were conducted at 2pmCT, Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Macedonia Cemetery. Bro. Larry Wisdom and Bro. Wilburn Bonta will be officiating. Visitation was requested from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, Friday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT, Saturday until time of the funeral service.



Pallbearers: Ronnie Russell, Ricky Russell, Dennis Penick, Ronnie Blakeman, Larry Jones, John Perkins, Aaron Parrish, Joe Diederich, and Barry Dobson.

Mrs. Anna Jewell Russell Hedgespeth of Greensburg, Kentucky, was the daughter of the late Jimmy Taylor Russell and Anna Wood Wilcoxson Russell. She was born on April 25, 1931 in Green County, Kentucky, and departed this life on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital. She was 84 years, one month, and 30 days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church. She was a retired machine operator for Fruit of the Loom, Inc., and helped run the Hedgespeth Country Store.

She united in marriage to Vora Dale Hedgespeth on June 3, 1952 who preceded her in death on June 10, 2015.

Survivors include:
  • Two sons and daughters-in-law: Dennis and Carletta Hedgespeth, and Roger and Pamela Hedgespeth all of Greensburg, KY

  • Four grandchildren: Jessica Plas of Ohio; Joseph Diederich of Pendleton; Julia Parrish, and Jenna Perkins both of Greensburg, KY

  • Six great-grandchildren

  • Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Rollin "Joe B" and Rachel Hedgespeth of Greensburg, KY; and Don and Nancy Parnell of Sulphur Well, KY

  • Special nephew: Mike E. Judd of Greensburg, KY

  • Three special nieces: Jamie Parnell, Amy Moore, and Gayle Blakeman all of Greensburg, KY

  • and a host of other family members and special friends
Mrs. Hedgespeth was also preceded in death by a brother: Coy Dean Russell; and two sisters: Jannett Wright, and Anita Jones. Memorials are suggested to the Macedonia Cemetery Fund or the Gideon Bible Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.
