Grateful Westlake Regional Hospital is here

'You see, we moved here from an area where they have much bigger, better staffed, state of the art hospitals. Hard to compare those to Westlake. But now we live here. And I'm SO grateful Westlake is here for our community, and has such a professional, caring ER staff. - ANITA REES

My husband Mark had heart surgery at the UK hospital on Thursday. We went home Friday afternoon. A few hours after we got home he was having difficulty breathing, so I drove him to the ER at Westlake.

It was Friday night, and naturally they were pretty busy. They took Mark in immediately, and started treatment to make him more comfortable. The doctor ran some tests, then consulted with one of the cardiologists at UK.

It was decided he needed to go there for further treatment. All the ambulances were out on calls, so they flew him there by helicopter. He's still in the hospital in Lexington and is stable.

You see, we moved here from an area where they have much bigger, better staffed, state of the art hospitals. Hard to compare those to Westlake. But now we live here. And I'm SO grateful Westlake is here for our community, and has such a professional, caring ER staff.

Thank you to the whole ER team!
