Auburn-Montgomery (AL) on Friday at 1pmCT, at the Mobile Tennis Center, 851 Gaillard Drive, Mobile, AL By Charles Balcom News from Lindsey Wilson College MOBILE, AL (14 May 2015) The Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team rolled of a 5-1 win over Embry-Riddle (FL) in the NAIA National Championship Quarterfinals on Thursday at the Mobile Tennis Center Sixth-seeded Embry-Riddle (14-5) took the first lead of the day after winning the opening doubles point, but that advantage was quickly erased and it was all Blue Raiders from there. Jessica King and Anna Gaprindashvili dropped the top-seeded doubles flight to Hui-I Huang and Anna Gotz by an 8-2 margin to put the Eagles up 1-0. But that lead was erased just seconds later as the No. 3 Blue Raider doubles duo of Alicia Rodriguez and Ana Helena Pinto captured their doubles point 8-1 over Giovanna Tomiotto and Meena Bennett to tie the match. Fiona Curty and Henar Munoz then gave Lindsey Wilson the lead by defeating Paula Ortiz Couder and Kathtryn Bock 8-5 at the second doubles flight for the 2-1 match advantage. As singles play began, it was the No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 positions that cruised in the opening sets for Lindsey Wilson. Gaprindashvili and Pinto both won their first set 6-1 at five and six, respectively, while King used a clean 6-0 sweep in her first set at No. 4 singles. From there, Pinto would capture the first singles point for the Blue Raiders. She led 5-0 in set two before Bennett fought back and won three points, but Pinto put things to an end with a 6-3 victory in set two. Gaprindashvili led 4-0 in set two before pulling away with a 6-2 victory to make it a 4-1 advantage. Munoz, playing at the top-seeded doubles flight, then captured the fifth and decisive point for Lindsey Wilson.
