I also did a search for a similar bird after seeing the photos on my daughter, Gina Gould's, Facebook page. Oddly enough it surely does resemble the images of a Diamond Dove - but we are glad for a more local ID. --Sharon Whitehurst
Thanks, Sharon Whitehurst: The Distinctive Eyes and Eye Ring certainly look like the pictures of Diamond Doves on the websites. Maybe the jury is still out. Could a Diamond Dove kept as a pet escaped? - EW

Sharon Whitehurst suggests that this bird does have the markings and look of a Diamond Dove, a native of Australia. The eye ring is and markings are similar to a Diamond Dove.
