Multiple construction projects set to begin on I-65 By: Chris Jessie Several Sections Of I65 Work Are Scheduled As Crews Prepare To Switch Northbound Traffic Onto Inside Lanes, Set Bridge Beams, And Make Pavement Repairs. Lane closures will happen at Mile Points 65-70, Mile Point 76, and Mile Points 102-104. Mile Points 102-104 Northbound I65 continues to be reduced to one lane between Mile Points 102-104 in Northern Hardin County. The center and right (outside) lanes will remain closed until Friday as contract crews make concrete repairs near the Hardin-Bullitt County line. Motorists should reduce speed and be prepared for slow/stopped traffic upon approach to the work zone. Delays are likely. After monitoring lengthy queues leading to long delays on Monday, motorists are strongly urged to consider alternate routes, based on their destinations. A signed alternate route will be posted at Exit 93 (Bluegrass Parkway East) to rejoin I65 at Exit 105 (Lebanon Junction). US 31W (Dixie Highway) or US 31E (Bardstown Road) may provide other motorists heading toward Louisville with a more timely commute. Mile Point 76 Tonight, rolling road blocks will be held on southbound I65 in advance of Exit 76. Bridge contractors will be setting bridge beams on the KY 224 overpass between 8pm and 11pm Eastern Time (local time). Short delays are expected for southbound I65 motorists. KY 224 will also be blocked at various periods during the same time. Motorists may wish to find alternate routes. Tuesday night, rolling road blocks will be held on northbound I65 in advance of Exit 76. Bridge contractors will be setting bridge beams on the KY 224 overpass between 8pm and 11pm Eastern Time (local time). Short delays are expected for northbound I65 motorists. KY 224 will also be blocked at various periods during the same time. Motorists may wish to find alternate routes. Mile Points 65-70 Tonight, I65 northbound will be reduced to one lane from Mile Points 65-70 between 7pm and 6am Central Time (local time) for paving operations. Lane closures in this two-lane section of I65 will alternate throughout the night. Motorists should pay close attention to signs upon approaching the work zone. Tuesday night, I65 northbound lane closures will be in place between Mile Points 65-70 to switch traffic to new pavement. This will also take place between 7pm and 6am Central Time (local time). Once the temporary switch is completed, northbound motorists will be in divided lanes from just north of the I65 interchange until reaching Exit 71 (Bonnieville). This will allow contract crews to work on the outside northbound lanes over the next several months as the next phase of I65 widening begins. This story was posted on 2015-05-05 11:22:05
