He was the patriarch of a highly regarded Adair County, KY, family. He was a native of Marion County, KY, and a resident of Adair County, KY, at the time of his death. He was the son of the late William Andrew and Minta Mae Shofner Blankenship. His wife of almost 59 years, Rebecca Gore Blankenship, survives. He leaves 11 direct living descendants.
