Report to the people: GRAS had busy, good week!

Cleanliness and sprucing up, are top priorities at Green River Animal Shelter in the transformation of the ongoing improvements at the facility, initiated by Magistrates Daryl Flatt and Sammy Baker, and given a powerful absolutely essential impetus by Adair County CJE Mike Stephens. It's now a very pleasant place to visit and see the potential it has. Saturdays, 10am-2pmCT are great times to take the family for a visit they'll never forget - and maybe spot an opportunity to pitch in and help out. Volunteers are important. - CM
And don't forget, the $50 adoption fee Special is still in effect, officially until March 31, 2015. We'll report as soon as we know whether it will be extended or changed.

By Kim Sallee, Director Green River Animal Shelter

Another very busy week at Green River Animal Shelter and that's the way we like it!

Lots of dogs (especially puppies) have found new homes and we want to thank everyone for considering a shelter pet.

We also want to thank everyone that has stopped in to say hello, and who also has donated money, cleaning supplies, dog/cat food and bedding. You have no idea how much we appreciate it and we definitely put it to good use.

We thoroughly clean the kennels 6 days a week which means we go thru lots of bleach and detergent.

We would like to invite anyone considering getting a new pet to please stop by the shelter and see what sweet dogs and cats that we have available for adoption. $50 adoption fee which covers spaying/neutering.

Green River Animal Shelter, 455 Appleby Drive. Hours are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays 10am-5pmCT and Saturdays 10am-2pmCT. Phone 270-385-9655 or 270-572-9943 after hours. Thanks, KIM SALLEE Director

A boxful of puppies: In at GRAS Wednesday, sold out by Friday!

2015-03-28 - Green River Animal Shelter, 455 Appleby Drive, Columbia, KY - Photo By Ed Waggener.
"The boxful of puppies are all adopted :). Two of them were adopted the day they came in! The orphans have been weaned from the bottle and have went to stay at Barren county where they now have a large puppy room to play in until they are ready for adoption." - KIM SALLEE, Director, Green River Animal Shelter. The little girls came in on Wednesday, March 24, 2015. Kim sent the note above last night - so fast we aren't sure that more than two were ever christened with a shelter name. We're anxious to follow the story on the orphan puppies. It's tempting to just drive over the Barren County and pay them a visit. - EW
