Russell Co., KY teacher, under investigation, resigns

Name, nature of 'Inappropriate Communications' not yet disclosed. Superintendent Ford had suspended teacher prior to resignation

Information received from Russell County Schools Superintendent Michael Ford and Russell Springs Police Chief Joseph M. Irvin indicate that one teacher has been suspended, and subsequently resigns, district receives word of on ongoing. Russell County School Superintendent Michael Ford has issued a statement to the media today, Thursday, March 26, 2015
"Recently, the Russell County School District received information that allegations were being investigated regarding inappropriate communications between a teacher and a student. Upon being presented documentation, that teacher was suspended and resigned a few days later.

"Any similar information we receive in the future will also be dealt with immediately. Russell County School District is about education our students and the safety and well being of our students is our top priority."
The name of the teacher and the nature of the inappropriate communications has not be disclosed. -LARRY SMITH, Operations Manager, Shoreline Communications.
