Campbellsville Police investigate accidental shooting

Initial investigation suggests parent of 4-year-child was repairing a firearm when it accidentally discharged, striking the child, who was treated at Taylor Regional Hospital and then transferred to Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville, KY. The case remains under investigation by Campbellsville Police Department

The Campbellsville Police received a report of a person sufferng a gunshot wound on Sunday, March 8, 2015.

Officers responded to 412 Lowell Avenue at 10:50amET to investigate a report of an injury resulting from a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, officers found a (4) year old child suffering from gunshot wound to the lower right leg.



Personnel from the Campbellsville-Taylor County Emergency Medical Service (CTCEMS) arrived and began treatment before transporting the victim to the Taylor Regional Hospital.


Initial investigation suggests that a parent of the child was repairing a firearm when it accidentally discharged, striking the child.

The child was treated and Taylor Regional Hospital and was later transferred to Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville, KY.

The incident remains under investigation by the Campbellsville Police Department.
