Traffic west of Adair Co, KY: Road Condition 4amCT Update

All but two BG District 3 counties, including Metcalfe and District 4 Counties to the West of Adair County, are covered with a least several inches of snow. On 1-65 traffic is barely moving. A routes only ones being plowed at this time

By Wes Watt, Public Information Officer
KY Transportation Cabinet, District 3, Bowling Green, KY BOWLING GREEN, KY (Thu 5 Mar 2015) - Hours of heavy sleet and snow have created hazardous road conditions all over the district. If motorists have to be out they need to extreme caution. Crews have been working since about 7 p.m. lasts night battling the winter weather.

With the exception of a couple of counties, all roads are covered with at least several inches on snow. The more northwestern counties have even more snow accumulation. Crews are reporting that Interstate 65 is covered, but they are able to keep one lane knocked down somewhat so those having to travel can pass. But snowfall continues and any lanes that get plowed are quickly covered. The right lane on I-65 is the lane being concentrated on by crews. The A routes are the only routes being plowed at this time. It could be some time before B and C routes are treated and plowed. Crews are working as hard as they can so please be patient.

In District 4 which starts in Hart County reports I-65 is barely moving and the normal alternate routes are not much better. Snowfall is more severe in the counties just to north of our district.

For more roadway information motorists can check the District Three Twitter account at KYTCDISTRICT3 as well as the district Facebook Page at KYTCDISTRICT3. Kentucky 511 will have road conditions, crashes, traffic and other delays listed from across the state on the website at 511.ky.gov , as well as the KY511 smartphone app. People can also keep track of what areas are being treated here: http://511.ky.gov/winteractivities/main.jsf
