AG announces guilty plea & sentencing in W. KY burglary case

Burglary victims were attending their son's funeral

Allison Gardner Martin, Communications Director
Office of Attorney General Jack Conway

Attorney General Jack Conway and his Office of Special Prosecutions today announced the guilty plea and sentencing of 46-year-old Timothy D. Terry of Vine Grove, KY. Terry entered a guilty plea in Grayson Circuit Court to charges associated with a home burglary that took place in June of 2012 in Grayson County. The victims were attending their son's funeral at the time of the crime.

Terry pled guilty to Burglary First Degree and Persistent Felony Offender Second Degree. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison. The defendant is not eligible for probation. Terry has a prior conviction for home burglary.

"I appreciate the dedication of my prosecutors in helping obtain justice for this family," Attorney General Conway said. "As a parent, my heart goes out to the victims of this crime, and I hope this case helps bring a measure of closure to a crime that occurred during a time of immeasurable grief."

Terry confessed to the crime.

Terry's co-defendant, James Parrett, is awaiting trial. He is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing on April 21. The Parrett case is also being handled by special prosecutors from the Office of the Attorney General. The Office of Special Prosecutions handled these cases at the request of Commonwealth's Attorney David Williams.
