LWC Softball sweeps Albany State By: Chris Wells ALBANY, Ga. -- No. 4-ranked Lindsey Wilson softball finally opened the 2015 season today and the Blue Raiders did not disappoint in a doubleheader sweep over host Albany State (Ga.). Lindsey Wilson pitchers Casey Bryan and Jordan Hood were dominant in the circle while the Blue Raider offense produced 12 runs and 20 hits in the 5-1 and 7-0 wins. Like several NAIA teams this past week, the Blue Raiders (2-0) were forced to cancel several games due to the winter weather conditions and brutal temperatures. Lindsey Wilson shook off the cold and headed to warmer conditions to find Albany State -- a NCAA Division II member -- willing to serve as host for the Blue Raiders season opener. While Bryan was dealing in the circle in the opener, Amanda Trampe continued where she left off a season ago going 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs in a 5-1 win. The 2014 NAIA All-American tallied four hits and six RBIs in the two games. Sydney Fourman -- playing in her first collegiate game -- added two hits, a run and a RBI in the win. Bryan (1-0) went the distance allowing one run on six hits while striking out seven Lady Rams. In today's finale, Hood struck out 14 en route to a four-hit, complete-game shutout in the Blue Raiders' 7-0 win. Trampe, Hood, Andrea Whelan and Chelsea Showers each recorded multiple-hit games as the Blue Raider offense out-hit Albany State 11-4. Trampe drove in three more runs with a pair of doubles while Showers ended with three hits and a pair of runs scored. This story was posted on 2015-02-22 08:15:17
