Danville, KY, woman dies as result of Springfield, KY, crash

Slick road conditions were a contributing factor

SPRINGFIELD, KY - Tpr. Boston Hensley is investigating a collision that occurred , Wednesday, February 18, 2015, 1 at approximately 5:18pmET on the KY 150 Bypass, 1 mile east of Springfield. The collision occurred when a 2010 Chevrolet car operated by 50-year-old Hoyt Calhoun, of Boston, KY was traveling west on the 150 bypass. Calhoun crossed over the center line and struck an eastbound 2003 Mitsubishi car operated by 51-year-old Rhonda Yates of Danville, KY.



Calhoun and a passenger, 44-year-old Lori Meier, of Elizabethtown, were transported to Springview Hospital, Lebanon, KUY. Meier was later flown to University of Louisville for treatment. Neither were wearing seatbelts.

Rhonda Yates was also transported to Springview Medical where she was later pronounced dead. Yates was not wearing a seatbelt.

Slick road conditions were a contributing factor. Trooper Hensley was assisted at the scene by Washington County Fire, EMS and Rescue. The collision remains under investigation.
