Columbia Sanitation Department: Nothing seems to stop them Heroes of the Blizzard. Garbage pickups on regular schedule, Mayor Curtis Hardwick says. A round of applause in order? Columbia Mayor Curtis Hardwick said that the Columbia Sanitation Department will make their appointed rounds on a regular schedule during the winter storm - if humanly possible. "They actually picked up early Monday morning to get ahead of the snow," Mayor Hardwick said. The Mayor confirmed the schedule in a phone interview after inquiries reached ColumbiaMagazine.com during the day, today Mon 16 Feb 2015.
