LWC Women’s Basketball downs Shawnee State, 79-66

Chanel Roberts records her third double-double of the season as Kasey Young and Courtney Sandlin both go for career highs

COLUMBIA, KY - The 19th-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team topped No. 21 Shawnee State (OH) by a final of 79-66 on Saturday, February 14, 2015, at Biggers Sports Center.

In what was both Senior Day as well as the college's annual Breast Cancer Awareness Day, five players finished in double figures for the Blue Raiders (21-6, 9-4 Mid-South Conference). The Bears fall to 18-8 and 5-5 in conference play.



With the victory, the Blue Raiders match the program's single-season home wins mark with 13 and head coach John B. Wethington earns his 499th career coaching victory.

For the Blue Raiders, Chanel Roberts had her third double-double this season as she led all players with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Kasey Young finished with a career-best 19 points on 6-of-13 shooting and hit five-of-eight three-point shots.

Courtney Sandlin had a season-high 16 points on the strength of six-of-eight shooting, including two three-point baskets. Alexus Chinn contributed 11 points and six rebounds, and Kayla Richardson had 10 points, four assists and four rebounds.

Before the game, seniors Ranika Rone, Keosha Wisener and B.J. Avery were all honored for their contributions to the women’s basketball program.
