LWC's Janice Brown record's two national T&F standards Kimberley Stevens added a third national cut in the triple jump event By Charles Balcom News from Lindsey Wilson College WEST LAFAYETTE, IN - The Lindsey Wilson women's indoor track and field team combined to record three national standards on Saturday at the Fred Wilt Invitational hosted by the University of Purdue (IN). Janice Brown recorded a national "B" and "A" standard in the long jump and triple jump events, respectively, while Kimberley Stevens also recorded an "A" standard in the triple jump. In the long jump, Brown achieved a distance of 5.38 meters (17-8 feet); matching the school record she set last season for her "B" standard. She later hit her "A" standard in the triple jump, setting a new school record with a distance of 11.43 meters (37.5 feet), breaking her own record set last season at 11.36 meters. That new record would be short-lived as Stevens went even further in the finals of the triple jump event, recording a distance of 11.48 meters (37.7 feet) for her national standard. In a field heavy with NCAA Division I competitors, Brown would finish eighth in both the long jump and triple jump while Stevens took seventh in the triple jump. The Blue Raiders were on the brink of another national standard, but the 4x400 meter relay team of Stevens, Maryssa Stewart, Renee Hurd and Kevia Gonzales fell just one second shy of a "B" standard as well as the program record in the event, finishing at 4:08.62. Sara Canada was the final Blue Raider to record a top-10 finish on the day, placing 10th in the 600 meter run event with a time of 1:44.14. This story was posted on 2015-02-15 09:19:32
