Mr. Donovan Lee Dean, Campbellsville, KY departed this life on February 9, 2015 at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, after a long illness.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Donovan Dean on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the Jesus Name Church, 80 Tabernacle Road, Campbellsville, KY 42718 at 1pmCT/2pmET. Elder Rueal Boils, Elder Jimmie Sharp, and Elder Ronnie Gowen will be officiating. The family will receive friends after 4pmCT/5pmET, Friday, February 13, 2015 at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Road, Campbellsville, KY 42718 after 5:00 PM, and on Saturday, February 14, after 10amCT/11amET, at the church. Interment will follow in the Jesus Name Church Cemetery.



Pallbearers are Jonathan Holley, Darren Durbin, Hunter Durbin, Gary DeWeese, Allen Wilson, Jacob Roby, and Joshua Epperson.

Honorary pallbearers are Collin Dean and Dylan Durbin.

Mr. Donovan Lee Dean of Campbellsville was born on May 19, 1989 in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida. He departed this life on February 9, 2015 at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, after a long illness. He was 25 years, 8 months, and 26 days of age.

Perhaps Job described Donovan's life best when he said that man born of woman is of few days, and those full of trouble. But while Donovan's natural heart struggled, his spiritual heart overflowed with love for all that knew him. His quick and infectious smile could brighten the dullest of days. Donovan loved nothing more than being able to offer a helping hand or a kind word to all.

Donovan Lee Dean leaves to cherish his memory:
  • His mother: Vicky Dean of Campbellsville, KY

  • A sister: Maranda Crum and husband Patrick of Campbellsville, KY

  • His niece and nephew: Layla Crum and Lee Crum, both of Campbellsville, KY

  • Two aunts: Carol Dean of Campbellsville, and Kathy Shoopman and husband Kalvin of Nicholasville, KY

  • Four uncles: Terry Holley and wife Debbie of Edmonton, KY; James Dean of Osgood, IN; Richard Dean and wife Eva of Batesville, IN; and Martin Dean of Arizona

  • A special cousin: Collin Dean of Campbellsville, KY

  • And a host of other close family and friends.
He was preceded in death by: His grandparents, Richard "Pepa" and Betty "Mema" Dean, and two uncles, Donnie Holley and Ricky Holley.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials take the form of donations to the funeral expenses, and can be made at the funeral home.
