Amernet String Quartet at Slider Hall, Fri 13 Feb 2015 Click on headline for story with photo(s) By Duane Bonifer News from Lindsey Wilson College COLUMBIA, KY. - A quartet of international musicians, the Amernet String Quartet will perform at 7pmCT Friday, February 13, 2015, in W.W. Slider Humanities Center Recital Hall, 155 Blue Raider Drive. The concert is free and open to the public. The Amernet String Quartet features violinists Marcia Littley and Misha Vitenson, violist Michael Klotz and cellist Jason Calloway. Praised for their "intelligence" and "immensely satisfying" playing by the New York Times, the Amernet String Quartet has garnered recognition as an exceptional string quartet. The group is ensemble-in-residence at Florida International University in Miami. Their sound has been called "complex" but with an "old-world flavor." Strad Magazine described Amernet as "a group of exceptional technical ability." The Amernet String Quartet has traveled across the Americas and to Asia, Europe and the Middle East. They have collaborated with prominent artists and ensembles, including the Tokyo and Ying quartets as well as Shmuel Ashkenasi, Robert deMaine, Roberto Diaz, Gary Hoffman, Ida Kavafian, Anthony McGill, Sherrill Milnes and Michael Tree. Internationally, the quartet has appeared at major festivals around the world, including Cervantino, San Miguel de Allende, Aviv (Israel) and Colima (Mexico).
