RRW: On Brian Williams, stupid should not be a career ender

Comments below reply to: Jon Halsey: Brian Williams 12 year cover up should end career

By Ralph Roy Waggener
Personal commentary

To John Halsey: You are right in that we should expect the highest standards from our media anchors. Expect, yes, But we are all fallible, all of us, even me. To expect that people will not occasionally do something stupid, well, is stupid because we all do stupid.

Hold to a high standard, but not a perfect standard; that's almost impossible to do.

Ever hear of three strikes and you are out like in baseball?

If we have three mistakes in the printing business then we will most likely lose the customer, even if one or two belong to the customer, we still loose.

If it comes to be that Bryan Williams has a record of misbehaving then he should go; if it is known that this is just a single stupid, then he deserves another chance and chances are this will cure him of stupid.

I really can't claim to not have performed stupid myself; does that mean I should fire myself? All I'm saying is that we are getting hard on some people like Williams and letting go of people like Congress people who do stupid after stupid and we re-elect them.

Three strikes and you are out.

All was out of order Ralph Roy Waggener
