By Charles Balcom
News from Lindsey Wilson College

MONTGOMERY, AL - A four-run inning in the top of the eighth helped the Lindsey Wilson baseball team seal an 8-3 victory over Auburn-Montgomery (AL) to take the weekend series 2-1 over the WarHawks.

The Blue Raiders (2-1) split with AUM (3-3) on Friday, winning 14-3 in the season opener before falling 7-4 in the nightcap.

Lindsey Wilson used strong hitting and quality pitching to help capture the series in the rubber match on Saturday.

Offensively, all nine Blue Raiders that had an at bat recorded at least one hit. Brandon Munoz, Victor Nazario and Dustin Woody each finished with a pair of hits. Woody and Aaron Ashton recorded two RBIs apiece and Munoz, Fabian Chirino and Daryl Blaskovich had the final three RBIs.

Lindsey Wilson finished with eight runs on 12 hits and three errors while the WarHawks had three runs on six hits with three errors of their own.

Starting AUM pitcher Matt Miller took the loss after giving up three runs, two earned, on seven hits in five innings of work.

The WarHawks’ three RBIs came from Darius Reese, Bryan Young and Brandon Pooler.
