Columbia man faces firearms charge following traffic stop

Columbia Police Officer Charles Greer observed 2002 Kia being being operated in a careless manner, makes stop, finds driver in possession of concealed handgun without a concealed carry license

Columbia Police Department Chief, Jason Cross OnTuesday, January 27, 2014, at 11:12pmCT, Columbia Police Ofc. Charles Greer was patrolling on the Veterans Memorial Bypass when he observed a 2002 Green Kia driving recklessly.

A traffic stop was conducted for moving violations. Upon interview with operator of vehicle it was found that the operator, 41 year old Kelvin Wilson of Columbia, was in possession of a concealed loaded handgun without possessing CCDW license.



Upon further investigation it was also found that Wilson was a convicted felon and prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm. He was arrested on the following charges:
  1. Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon.
  2. Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon.
  3. No/Expired Registration Plate.
  4. Failure to Maintain
Wilson was lodged in Adair County Regional Jail, Columbia, KY.
