Emma Jean (Jeanie) Bass Hughes, Edmonton, KY (1930-2015)

She was member of a highly regarded Metcalfe County, KY family. She was the daughter of the late Richard & Lucy Dulaney Bass and the widow of Mackie Hughes. She leaves 10 direct living descendants spanning four generations. She was the owner of Hughes Grocery for 24 years. She was of the Baptist faith.

Emma Jean (Jeanie) Bass Hughes, of Edmonton, KY, died January 23, 2015, at T J Samson Hospital, Glasgow, KY.

Cremation was chosen and private services will be held at a later date.

Emma Jean (Jeanie) Bass Hughes, Edmonton, KY (1930-2015)

Born Wednesday, March 26, 1930, in Marvel, Phillips County, Arkansas. She was a daughter of the late Richard and Lucy Dulaney Bass. She died Friday, January 23, 2015 in Glasgow, Barren County, KY, at the age of 84 years, nine months, and 28 days.

She was the wife of the late Mackie Hughes.

She was the owner of Hughes Grocery for 24 years. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include the following:
  • Two daughters: Debra (Dwight) Daugherty, Edmonton, KY: and Lynna (Tim) Hughes-Baker, Bowling Green, KY
  • Three grandchildren: Bethany Young, Edmonton, KY; Pamela McKinney Mosby, Glasgow, KY; and Jamison Hunley, Scottsville, KY

  • Four great grandchildren: Emily Young and Hali Mosby, Edmonton, KY; Latasha Mosby, Glasgow, KY; and Gretchen Mosby, Bowling Green

  • One great great grandchild: Jaci Dlayne Sweet, Edmonton, KY

  • And one brother: Harold (Ozane) Bass, Paris TN
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Stanley, Herbert, Homer, and Cecil Bass, and one sister, Katie Ruth Bass. Memorials can be made through the McMurtrey Funeral Home to the American Heart Association.
