LWC Men's Indoor Track and Field competes at UK Invitational


Dante Johnson was the highest Blue Raider finisher, taking sixth-place in the 60 meter hurdles

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson men's indoor track and field team competed on Saturday in the University of Kentucky Indoor Invitational at the Nutter Fieldhouse. A total of four Blue Raiders were in action on the final day of competition.

Freshman Dante Johnson got the track events started for the Blue Raiders as he clocked in at 8.52 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles event, qualifying for last spot in the finals heat after edging the 10th-place finisher by .003 seconds in the 21-man event. In the finals, Johnson ran an 8.50 to finish in sixth-place in the event.


Austin Childress finished the 800 meter run event in a time of 2:01.31 in 13th place, less than 10 seconds behind the top finisher. The 2:01.31 time was an indoor career-best for Childress.

In the field events, Carmetrick Ross qualified for the finals of the long jump event after reaching a distance of 6.92 meters (22-08.50 feet). Once in the finals, Ross was unable to better his preliminary distance, finishing in seventh-place in the event.

In the final field event for Lindsey Wilson, Josh Kles competed in the shot put recording a toss of 13.80 meters (45-03.50 feet) to finish in 18th place.
