Air and Space Career Path will integrate with C/AC Airport

'Career Pathway will breath new energy into local airport . . . 'Without the airport board's endorsement and their agreeing to allow us access of the local airport, our school system would not have been allowed to join the consortium.' - ALAN W. REED

By Alan W. Reed

The career pathway in Aerospace is sure to breathe new energy into the local airport t as well as open the door for numerous students who will take advantage of this exciting career pathway and learn math, science, computer programming, and technology in a hands-on fashion.

The Aerospace pathway will also help the math and science programs at ACHS but allowing them to shift the curriculum into even more product-based learning with high levels of student excitement and engagement.

The program will begin next school year (August 2015) with preparations starting immediately at ACHS. Students will earn free college or dual credit, interact with peers from across KY and Tennessee, and spend considerable amounts of time with professors from the Eastern Kentucky Univeristy's College of Aviation, University of Kentucky, Morehead State University, NASA Kentucky, and KCTCS-Somerset.

Kentucky is now number three in the nation in aviation manufacturing. ACHS students who choose this pathway will have a "leg up" in the manufacturing sector, aviation repair fields, or professional piloting.

Aerospace now joins Welding/Metal Fabrication, Energy Academy, and Health Sciences as the newest career paths at Adair County High School.
