Lindsey Wilson third in NAIA National Learfield Cup standings Final rankings, which will include Football, will be released Christmas Eve, 24 Dec 2014 By Chris Wells News from Lindsey Wilson College COLUMBIA, KY - Lindsey Wilson athletics is third in the second fall ranking of the Learfield Sports Director's Cup standings, National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics officials announced on Wednesday, December 17, 20414. The Blue Raiders vaulted into the top-five - after failing to make the first fall ranking - following three top-10 finishes at NAIA national championships this fall. Lindsey Wilson boasts 217 points with football still remaining before the final fall standings are released on December 24, 2014. The second set of fall rankings includes men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer and volleyball. Lindsey Wilson scored 100 points for winning the women's soccer national championship, 64 points for a ninth-place finish in volleyball and 53 points for a ninth-place finish in men's soccer. Only Cal State San Marcos' 222 points and Olivet Nazarene's (IL) 218.5 points are in front of Lindsey Wilson's total. Three other Mid-South Conference teams are in the rankings. Shawnee State (Ohio) is 30th overall with 121.5 points, Cumberland (TN) ranks 51st with 70 points and Georgetown (KY) is 55th with 64 points. With the conclusion of men's and women's soccer and volleyball, five of the six fall NAIA championships have been completed with the following institutions capturing titles: Oklahoma City (men's cross country); British Columbia (women's cross country); Lindsey Wilson (women's soccer); Davenport (MI) (men's soccer); and Park (MO) (volleyball). The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between NACDA and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 12 sports -- six women's and six men's. The final NAIA fall standings -- which will include football -- will be released Thursday, December 24, 2014. This story was posted on 2014-12-18 01:39:14
