Fred Roalston Cravens, Casey County, KY (1934-2014)

He was a former insurance and satellite dish salesman and a member of the Ferndale Baptist Church. He was an avid baseball fan and especially loved the Atlanta Braves. He also enjoyed working jigsaw puzzle. He was a native of Casey County, the son of the late Coy and Nora Gadberry Cravens. He leaves six direct living descendants.

Fred Roalston Cravens, age 80, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2014, at the McCreary County Health and Rehab in Pine Knot, KY.

Funeral services will be held at 1pmCT/2pmET Thursday, December 18, 2014, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Spaw Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11amCT/12pm noon ET, until time for services on Thursday.



Fred Roalston Cravens, Casey County, KY (1934-2014)


Born August 19, 1934, in Casey Co., KY, he was a son of the late Coy and Nora Gadberry Cravens. He died Monday, December 15, 2014, in Pine Knot, McCreary County, KY, at the age of 80 years, three months, and 26 days.

Fred was a former insurance and satellite dish salesman and a member of the Ferndale Baptist Church. He was an avid baseball fan and especially loved the Atlanta Braves. He also enjoyed working jigsaw puzzle.

Survivors include the following:
  • His daughter: Gloria Jean (Johnny McGowan) Hammond of Somerset, KY

  • A son, Gilbert Dewayne (Sandra) Cravens of Liberty, KY

  • Sisters: Betty (Jack) Robinson of Liberty, KY; and Glennis (Dale) Foster of Bethelridge, KY

  • Two grandchildren: Cathleen and Makayla

  • Two great-grandchildren: Kiah and Coy
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dewey Lee Cravens and Winfrey "Wimp" Cravens; and sisters, Collettie Cravens and Daisy Cravens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the funeral home to help the family offset funeral expenses.
